Hunted viewers shocked as ‘un-Australian’ betrayal eliminates team from the game: ‘He is the true villain’

Fans of Channel 10’s hit new reality show Hunted were shocked when two fugitives were eliminated after an ‘un-Australian’ betrayal on Monday’s episode.

Contestants Karen and Brittany, who are aunt and niece, were finally captured after spending more than a week on the run.

After finding their wanted posters plastered all over town, the pair boarded a bus from Wonthaggi to Phillip Island then waited for a ferry to get them out of the area.

But Karen and Brittany were completely unaware their bus driver, Graham, had tipped off the Hunters to their location.

Graham contacted Hunter HQ to let them know of the duo’s whereabouts, explaining he had dropped them off at the Phillip Island jetty.

‘I had them on the local bus from Wonthaggi, across to Cowes [the main township on Phillip Island] to catch the Stone Creek Ferry,’ he said.

However, Karen and Brittany were able to outrun the Hunters who were chasing them on the ground.

The following day, they returned to the same jetty hoping a ferry would turn up to get them off the island.

But a second tip-off by the same bus driver ultimately got them caught.

Fans took to Twitter to express their anger after the pair were dobbed in for a reward.

‘Graham has been nominated for the UnAustralian of the Year,’ one viewer tweeted.

‘Graham is the true villain, not the hunters,’ another added.

However, other fans argued Graham ‘did the right thing’ by dobbing in the fugitives.

The Hunters are still tracking down 10 contestants – Jake and Rob, Grace and Sonny, Nicholas and Lavinia, Puneet and Chris, and Stathi and Matt – who are on the run in Victoria, with just 11 days left.

Most contestants were captured in the first week after lingering too long with relatives and friends.

Hunted is a thrilling series which follows 18 contestants who must go on the run and avoid being captured for 21 days.

A prize of $100,000 awaits the winners, but they must first evade an elite team of ‘hunters’ comprising former intelligence agents and police officers.

Traveling in pairs, the fugitives have only limited resources to escape detection in the field.

The show has been a ratings hit since its premiere last week.
