Sunrise host Natalie Barr has been struck down by yet another illness just days after she recovered from COVID-19.
The 54-year-old trooper returned to the breakfast show as expected on Wednesday after she completed seven days in quarantine, however she has revealed to her co-host David Koch that she’s still sick.
Nat is back! How are you feeling?’ Koch said at the top of the program.
“Good, except I’ve got a sinus infection and am a bit lightheaded. Apart from that, I’m great,’ Barr said in a sarcastic manner.
“Que? You have a sinus infection as well?’ Koch responded?
“I did a telehealth (appointment) with the doctor yesterday and he said, ‘Don’t worry, you’re not contagious,;” Barr assured Koch.
Barr, who grew up in Bunbury, was scheduled to return to Sunrise on Monday after a quick trip to Perth.
But she was required to quarantine after she contracted coronavirus when she returned to Sydney.
On Monday’s show, Koch explained what had happened to Barr.
“Well, everyone’s been asking, ‘Where’s Nat?’ Well, you may have noticed she’s been missing over the past week or so,” Koch said.
“She’s at home in isolation after testing positive for COVID.”
Monique Wright, who stepped in for Barr on Monday, gave viewers an update on how Barr was getting on.
“During her time off, Nat’s been very busy: she’s been trying new recipes, she has also been working her way through her new wardrobe, doing some early spring cleaning and organizing, due to being stuck in her bedroom,” Wright said.
The hosts went on to explain that Barr was feeling “pretty good” despite having the virus.
“She’s fully vaccinated of course… all the four doses, her cough is virtually gone,” Koch said.
“We wish her a speedy recovery.
“Yeah, that’s the beauty of having four doses. She’s doing well, ”
